The Cubs Just Hit NINE Home Runs in One Game
THE KATCH: The Chicago Cubs blasted nine home runs in a 17–3 win over the Milwaukee Brewers, setting a single-game franchise record for a club that has been playing baseball since the 1800s. The nine homers also tied for the second-most by any MLB team in a game since at least 1900.
WHY IT MATTERS: This wasn’t just one freak night. The Cubs finished August with 62 home runs, a new National League record for homers in a calendar month. Only the 2019 Yankees have ever hit more in one month.
